Sunburn Prevention

Several decades ago, a suntan was a highly sought after look. Since then, research has shown that this suntanned look is not only age-speeding, it’s cancer-causing. Suntan lotion companies switched their focus from sun-baking suntan oils to suntan prevention products, which include SPF protection from dangerous UVA & UVB rays.
With the wide usage and advancement of these products has come creative and ingenious inventions to assist us in keeping our outer shells, the epidermis, healthy and safe. After all, these said layers are our exterior body walls. The epidermal layers protect. We need to make sure they’re impenetrable from the elements. Just like our house has a roof, windows, exterior walls ,protective material, and caulking, our bodies need a similar shield.

Products you should have in your sunburn toolkit:

  • SPF of at least 15 or higher
  • Buy a water resistant formula
  • Buy a broad-spectrum formula, UVA & UVB rays
  • Enough SPF lotion to reapply every two hours
  • Protective clothing with UPF to block out UV rays
  • Hats and sunglasses are a must. The scalp and eyes are highly sensitive
  • Rit Sun Guard, a colorless dye added to the laundry cycle making items UV resistant
  • Avoidance of peak sun hours
So whether you’re hitting the pool, strolling the beach, attending an outdoor party or just plain adventuring, remember the sun prevention essentials.
