Ping Pong; Unleash Indoor Fun

History

Did you know that table tennis has been in existence for more than 125 years?  Its first competitive games being played in England in the 1880’s, the game, known to many as Ping Pong, is one of the few games universally played and understood by so many people in so many countries.  Not only is table tennis popular because of the simple rules, it's played a role in diplomatic discussions, recreational league tournaments and, beginning in 1988, was added to the Olympics.

Benefits

One of the best things about table tennis is that it requires virtually no set up, training, tools or equipment.  A simple up-front investment of as little as $300 can open the window to days, months, even years of fun for friends, families and group gatherings.  The options available to you are vast.  And there are a number of things to think about before investing in your table.

1  -  For starters, consider the space you have in the room or location where you plan to place your table.

2  -  If you anticipate having to fold it up and roll it out of the way when not in use, you’ll probably be happier with larger casters and will want to have the option of the playback mode.  Not only will the playback mode allow you to fold one end (or both) of the table up for easy storage, it's designed to give you the option of solo play. Can’t find an opponent? No problem - simply lift one side up and
play until your heart’s content.

3  -  If you plan to place the table in one location, like a rec room, garage or basement, then you may want to consider the color of the table’s top. Most tables come with either green, blue or black tops, and their thickness can range from 1/2 inch to one full inch thick.

4  -  Additionally, if you plan to keep your table out for the convenience of quick play at anytime, you might consider wheel locks and padded corners so that the smaller members of your family don’t run the risk of hitting their head during “active” play time.

Table tennis options can generally be lumped into three pricing categories.

1 -  Under $400
2 -  Under $600
3 -  Under $800

Additionally

As you can see, there are options available for most anyone and for any intended use.  For those looking to manage to a budget, the entry-level options provide a great playing experience and still offer important safety features, durable construction and playback options.  If you’re looking for a thicker tabletop and a super sturdy frame with little plans of moving your table often, then spending a little more to get what you need may be the best option.

Of course, if you’re looking for a simple and quick solution, don’t overlook the Table
Tennis Conversion Top which provides a regulation size playing surface and just overlays any pool table, or larger table in your home. The half-inch playing surface is padded on the backside to protect your table and the cost is designed to protect your pocketbook!
